Moghan Music is run by sole owner and director Alaister Moughan. Over the last decade Alaister has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand working for the likes of INgrooves Music Publishing, Universal Music International and 23 Capital as well as a roster of highly influential freelance clients. This has been instrumental in building a global network that spans a broad and distinctive skill base.

As of January 2025 Moghan Music has advised on over $US4b of catalogue value including upwards of $US500m of buy side valuation support, $US700m of valuation support for lenders, $US220m of sell side support and upwards of $US3b on transactional support.

Alaister is an experienced valuation expert and industry observer. He has been featured on leading broadcast outlets and publications including Bloomberg, the BBC and Fast Company. His extensive career and academic background in law, finance and management, which comprises a Masters in Music Business from NYU Steinhardt following a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Commerce (Majoring in Accounting) from the University of Auckland, has shaped his unique understanding of the professional landscape.

At 23 Capital Alaister worked on business affairs, cash flow forecasting and music catalogue valuations in the context of debt offerings. He provided valuations on catalogues ranging from multi-million dollar individual artist / songwriter catalogues to much larger institution deals of up to $US300m.

Since August 2020, Moghan Music has provided valuation analysis on both sides of the market. Moghan Music provides catalogue valuation services to both equity and debt investors as well as providing advisory services to leading securitisation agents for large catalogue portfolio assessments.

In addition, Moghan Music works with leading industry managers and lawyers who are assessing a possible client catalogue sale by providing an internal valuation and full prospectus and diligence package to present to potential buyers.
